- From the South, take the NI towards Polokwane (Pietersburg).
- Take the Nylstroom (Modimolle) off ramp at the Kranskop toll plaza.
- Go into Modimolle; turn right at the main intersection onto the R101 towards
- Mookgophong (Naboomspruit) and Makopane (Potgietersrus).
- Diagonally opposite is ‘Mr Munchies’ (they sell the best fish and chips in SA!).
- Keep heading towards Naboomspruit staying on the R101, with the mountains on your left. Approximately 43 Km from the toll plaza, at the Boekenhout station sign, turn right onto a gravel road for about 8 km.
- Look out for the entrance +1km after the railway line crossing on the left.
- The Group camp is the first little road left again.
- The campsite is just inside the reserve on the right.
- A permit and combination lock number is required to enter Vogelfontein; it is obtainable from the main gate at Nylsvley.
- An alternative route (and if you are travelling from the north) is to stay on the N1 toll road and take the Mookgophong off ramp, some 3 km later you reach the R101.
- Travel south towards Modimolle until you pick up the Boekenhout station sign.
- Vogelfontein is accessed via the road parallel to the railway line for about 5km, take the first road right and that leads you onto the floodplain.
Enjoy your visit!
